En route to Istanbul, Turkey, the late Governor of Toghdeer region of the Republic of Somaliland, Hamza Mohamed Abdi, took his last breath. He arrived at destination dead.
Hamze was airlifted from Hargeisa Sunday on critical condition.
Hamze was suffering from kidney failure.
Hamze was a well-loved young administrator who earned the respect of all who met him while in office as governor in the regions of Gabiley and Togdheer.
Government, regional and public condolences have inundated the social media since news of his death only a couple of hours before reached the country.
We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of the Togdheer governor Hamze Mohamed Abdi.
We pray that Allah will grant him his paradise.
