Al Sayyed Hamdi Sanad Loza, the Egyptian Deputy Minister of that country’s Foreign Ministry arrive in Hargeisa of Somaliland at the head of a delegation, Monday, for a visit that will take several days.
Their Excellencies the Deputy Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland’s ministries of Foreign Affairs and Health, Abdulkadir Omar Jama, and Liban Yussuf Osman, respectively, received the Egyptian delegation at Egal International Airport.
According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs brief, posted on its official Facebook Page, the Egyptian delegation will be conferring with counterparts as well as an unspecified number of key government ministries, agencies, and institutions to explore areas of cooperation and mutual interest.
The Egyptian delegation, it is understood, is a return call of a fruitful visit the then Somaliland Deputy Minister at Foreign, Liban Yussuf, presently the Deputy Minister at Health development, made to the North African Arab nation in April this year.
Liban, however, was not able to follow up on his meetings during his visit to Egypt as he was transferred to Health during the visit itself leaving many agape with shock at the time on the President’s ill-timed transfers. But then, obviously, it did not faze the Egyptian side hence Monday’s visibly strong delegation.
Deputy Minister Loza was among high-level officials who received the Somaliland Deputy Minister in Cairo.
Interestingly enough, the delegation came through Mogadishu of Federal Somalia where they met with its President, Mohamed Abdullahi ‘Farmajo’, on Sunday.
The Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported that the Mogadishu visit, and logically of the Somaliland one as, “Loza’s visit to Somalia comes as of part of his tour in the Horn of Africa which also includes Kenya”.
The agency further stated that Egypt was “Egypt is keen on following up the latest developments in East Africa and the Horn of Africa in light of its presidency of the African Union in addition to boosting cooperation at the bilateral level at the different domains”.
