French-built Ethiopian Navy will be based in Massawa, Eritrea, according to Djibouti’s President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh in an exclusive interview with French magazine Jeune Afrique (pictured).
French President Emmanuel Macron told #Djibouti‘s leader that as part of moves to enhance its military and economic ties with Ethiopia, #France has agreed in a new deal to help the landlocked country to build a navy in #Massawa with the #Eritrea government blessing.
“This unprecedented defence cooperation agreement provides a framework… and notably opens the way for France to assist in establishing an Ethiopian naval component,” Macron had said on the visit to #Ethiopialast month.
