What leadership role Pakistan can play in preventing an impeding armed conflict in the Gulf and how it can withstand growing Saudi pressure over Islamabad to take a position against Qatar?
Supporting Hamas against its struggle to emancipate the Palestinian territories from the clutches of Israel is legitimate and can not be equated with terrorism. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the Gulf crisis in a trilateral phone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and French president Emmanuel Macron, according to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency.
Turkey has been siding with Qatar and pushing for a settlement through dialogue.
Saudi Arabia said yesterday a Turkish military base similar to that built in neighbouring Qatar would not be welcome in the kingdom, insisting it is “not needed”, reported Agence France-Presse. Iranian reports said the incident happened late on Friday.
The television channel has always been a target for criticism by other Middle East countries, with Al-Jazeera banned on several occasions. Qatar denied the accusations, calling the moves towards its diplomatic isolation as “unjustified“.
If Qatar wants to avoid the prolonging of this crisis, it has to listen to what the four countries have to say and make a serious commitment to change.
That includes the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, both of which are considered terrorist organizations by Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
He noted that the Saudi Arabians are the importers of the main bulk of Somaliland livestock and the bilateral relations between the two has been in place for ages. The so-called “Islamic State” group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Iran and Saudi Arabia accuse each other of subverting regional security. Iran and Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties in 2016. Saudi Arabia and some other Gulf countries were angry with Qatar on why it was not supporting their anti-Iranian alliance and was pursuing an independent foreign policy.
“The state of Qatar has been subjected to a campaign of lies that have reached the point of complete fabrication”, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement this month. Turkey also sent additional supplies of dairy products to Qatar’s capital, Doha, after Saudi Arabia sealed shut Qatar’s only land border, impacting a significant source of food imports. “We wish for the crisis to be resolved quicker than other crises”, he said.
It’s the biggest diplomatic crisis to hit the Middle East in years.
“Even if the boats had entered Saudi waters, the coastguard were not authorised to open fire”, Aghababaie added.
The government asserts that the decision is well in line with the political interests of this country.
