Host nation Gabon have drawn against Guinea-Bissau in the first match of the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Guinea-Bissau in the Gabonese capital Libreville.

The Gabon team scored its first goal through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 52nd minute. The victory was cut short in extra time by an equalizer from Guinea-Bissau’s Juary Soares at the Stade de l’Amitie.

The stadium was almost full, but this wasn’t the case during the opening ceremony when it was half empty.

The second match between Burkina Faso and Cameroon also ended in a 1-1 draw with goals from Moukandjo and Dayo for Cameroon and Burkina Faso respectively.

Among the performers at the start of the ceremony were Nigerian recording artist Davido, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Franco-Senegalese rapper Booba, Cameroonian Franko alongside Congolese musicians Lumino and Mohombi.
