His Excellency the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Somaliland, Mohamed Mihille Boqorreh, received, today, at his office the visiting Netherlands Ambassador Frans Makken.
The reception followed a visit the Netherlands Ambassador Frans Makken, accompanied by a delegation of European officials, paid an official visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The meeting came in the wake of meetings between Netherlands Ambassador Frans Makken and Foreign Minister Dr Saad Shire in Nairobi.
In a meeting marked by warmth and candor, Ministry officials enjoyed fruitful and productive discussions with delegation on a number of topics, with the primary focus being on joint efforts to improve cooperation between the #EU, #Netherlands and #Somaliland. The State Minister also took the opportunity to thank the Netherlands for its funding support for the Somaliland Development Fund and other projects, as well as for its role as one of the biggest investors in Somaliland.
The State Minister Mohamed Mihile Boqoreh said: “Somaliland and Netherlands share close ties and a common understanding of the development and security needs of the region. We look forward to working in close cooperation with you to build on the successes we already enjoy.”
The Netherlands provides significant support to Somaliland through the #SDF development fund as well as through assisting Somaliland’s efforts to combating piracy through capacity-building for Somaliland’s Coast Guard. The visit by the delegation reflects the longstanding partnership and friendship between the Netherlands and the Republic of Somaliland.
