Energy Minister receives Norwegian Deputy Ambassador

Hon Hussein Abdi Dualeh , Minister of Energy and Minerals of the Republic of Somaliland,  his received the H.E Verjorn Heines, the Deputy Norwegian ambassador to Kenya and his delegation in his office on Saturday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance the existing cordial relations between the two countries.

Hon Hussein Abdi Dualeh, Minister of Energy and Minerals speaking to the media said, “I would like to welcome the H.E Verjorn Heines , the Deputy Norwegian ambassador to Kenya and his delegation for visiting us here at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

“Our meeting today was fruitful, our Norwegian partners have expressed their commitment to enhance cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals in terms of capacity building and developing the energy sector in the country.”

H.E Verjorn Heines, the Deputy Norwegian ambassador to Kenya speaking to the media moments after emerging from the closed-door meeting expressed his pleasure and gratitude for the ‘warm hospitality’ given him and his delegation and for a ‘fruitful’ meeting.

“I am very pleased to be back in Hargeisa, Somaliland, these not being my first time here. we discussed development issues with the Minister of energy and Minerals and also specifically on possible partnership relating to the energy sector and other sectors,” Ambassador Heines said.

“On the other hand”, he added “Norway has had a long presence in the country and there are many Norwegian NGO’s working in the country and also Somalilanders in the diaspora”.

Mr. Heines expressed his hope for a “continued partnership in the future”.
