The government of the Republic of Somaliland announced, today, that presidential and parliamentary ballots separated in a presidential decree that HE Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo issued.
Presidential press secretary made the announcement in a press briefing held at the presidential residence. He asserted officially that parliamentary elections differed and presidential polls will first be held. The presidential spokesman has further affirmed that the president is due to send a formal letter to the house of elders asking them to extend the term for the parliament.
The government of Somaliland has not so far announced how long the parliamentary polls will be postponed. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the parliament will be given one-year term extension.
