Two explosions rocked Bula Hawa on the Kenya-Somalia border in Mandera County on Friday morning.

Police say the blasts occurred six minutes apart and were said to have been caused by home-made bombs planted 15 metres apart.

But Mandera County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia said there was only one blast.

“The IED device exploded at about 8am at the border but no one was injured,” he said.

Mr Shisia said the device is suspected to have been planted by Al-Shabaab from Somalia.

“We suspect it was planted by Al-Shabaab because we have information that their IED experts sneaked into Mandera through Bula Hawa town” he said.
