A treasurer at the Somalia Central Bank has stolen more than half a million dollars from the country’s highest monetary authority, Governor Bashir Isse Ali has revealed.
The long-serving cashier identified as Mohiyadin Mohamed Hassan—now on the run according to officials –replaced USD 530,000 with fake bills.
Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are currently investigating and dealing with the theft, Ali told the media on Thursday.
