Statesman Mohamed Abdi Iskeerse passed away quitly at Hargeisa Group Hospital, Saturday, following a long illness related to compounded heart complications. 
The statesman had been using oxygen tanks for survival for the past year or so, taking an oxygen bottle with him where he went. Mr. Iskeerse had several by-pass surgeries before and could not be operated upon again due to his ill-health and nature of illness.
His Excellency the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud ‘Siilaanyo’, sent state condolences to the family of the deceased politician and the public.
The President visited the ailing politician at his hospital on several occasions the last of which was on 13 June following a devastating squall which hit the capital city, Hargeisa, earlier that day.
On a similar vein, the leaders of all three political parties of the Republic of Somaliland – Kulmiye, UCID & Waddani – all conveyed condolences to the nation on behalf of their offices and constituencies.
The late Iskeerse was one of the more enduring, stalwart leaders of the ruling Kulmiye party.
