At least 17 Jubbaland soldiers have been killed and dozens wounded when Al-shabaab militants attacked their base near Kismayo city, Lower Jubba regional capital.
The attack took place last night at Academic base near KDF outpost, located some 5Kms away from Kismayo city, according to resident who spoke to local radio in somalia.
Residents reported heavy gunfire and explosions during the attack which left 17 soldiers belonging the interim administration of Jubbaland dead while many other sustained injures.
Kenyan defense forces serving under AMISOM who are based in the airport did not response to the attack on their allied Jubbaland army base, reports said.
