Last week in Somaliland 12 people with different impairment participated in a field testing for voter registration held in the National Election Commission compound.

The exercise included people with visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical impairment, mentally challenged, intellectual and speech difficulties, representing a sample of people with disabilities.

This initiative is supported by UK aid through the Department for International Development (DFID-Somalia) -Accountability Programme in Somaliland .

The objective is to ensure that the elections will be inclusive of the disabled and that state building efforts are accountable to all parts of society – including the most excluded.
