Arsenal are set to sign contract rebel Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli, according to The Metro.
The Argentine striker was offered a new contract at the San Paolo but has turned it down, fuelling speculation that he may finally complete a move to Arsenal.
Higuain, who joined Napoli in 2013 after he was expected to sign for Arsenal, is keeping his options open by turning down Napoli’s contract offer, and his brother and agent Nicolas explained the situation.
“We had a meeting with the President [Aurelio De Laurentiis] in Venice 10 days ago,’ said Nicolas Higuain.

“We talked about everything. He offered a one-year contract extension, however, in my opinion – and in our opinion – we’ll continue with the original contract, expiring in 2018.
“I don’t think we’ll accept the president’s offer, because the contract isn’t that different to the one we signed before, so for us it’s not a real offer.”Higuain has consistently scored goals wherever he’s played
Higuain has scored 53 goals in 102 games for the Italian club, and would be seen as an upgrade on Olivier Giroud.
The Gunners have also been heavily linked with Karim Benzema, but Real Madrid are determined to keep hold of the player.
The Daily Telegraph reported on Tuesday that Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla does not expect the move to go through.
“Everyone would like to have him on their team, but the coach already has a squad and probably will not find another forward,” said Cazorla.Denis Cheryshev is wanted by both Liverpool and Arsenal
