More than two-thirds of ROS Parliament approve new Chief Justice

A joint session of the Republic of Somaliland bi-cameral Parliament convened today, Wednesday, to deliberate a recent presidential appointment of a new Chief of Justice and decide whether to endorse the nomination or quash it.

The joint House decided to approve Adam Haji Ali as new head of the Supreme Court by 110 votes against 11 abstainers.President Ahmed M. Silanyo selected Adam Haji from several candidates who were trying to be appointed as the country’s chief justice.

The  parliamentary’s secretary  outlined Adam Haji Ali’s  biography and professional skills to parliament on June the 3rd.

Mr. Adam Haji Ali was the Head of Peace and Conflict Institute at Hargeisa University before becoming the new head of Supreme court and is replacing his predecessor.
