Sahra Halgan returns to her home country, Somaliland. After more than 20 years in exile in the West, she wants to make us discover her country in song, a country that is not recognised by the international community and of which quality images are rare. ‘Halgan’ (The Fighter) is the name given to her when she sang to the women and men fighting on the front in 1988, through a Somalilander pirate radio.
Incontestably an icon of her country and unique international representative of her culture, she sings of peace, love and the memory of war. In this film, we will follow Sahra through the different places that marked the history of Somaliland. She will sing to us the stories of her life, the dark times of her past but also the joy of rediscovering today an appeased territory and population.
