LG G4 flagship launched: 5.5-inch display, Slim Arc design, Snapdragon 808 and more!LG has taken the wraps off its 2015 flagship – the G4. The device design is pretty similar to the G3 with almost similar dimensions and design with volume keys and power button on the back of the handset.

However, this time around, the G4 is being made available in leather backs dipped in varying colours. Competing with the glass and metal used by other flagships, LG says each leather back takes about three months to build and uses materials found in luxury bags. The device is available in Metallic grey, Ceramic white and Shiny gold, while the genuine leather backs will be available in black, brown, red, sky blue, beige and yellow.

In terms of specs, the G4 sports a 5.5-inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixels of resolution, same as its predecessor. However, it now adds some technical changes like the Quantum IPS panel that is 25 percent brighter, 50 percent better contrast and 20 percent better colour accuracy. The screen is also said to be 11 percent more efficient than the display fitted into the G3.

The device boasts of Slim Arc design, which means it has a slight curve, but not as much as the G Flex. This subtle curve will ensure the display is less likely to break upon fall.

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It will be available with 32GB onboard storage, expandable via microSD card slot up to 128GB. G4 owners will also get 100GB of free Google Drive storage space for two years, while the native gallery, music, and file explorer apps have Drive integrated into them.

On the camera front, the G4 comes with a new 16-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 lens and improved image stabilization. It gets a new ‘color spectrum sensor’ with more accurate color and white balance. For selfie lovers, it comes with an 8MP front camera.

The device runs Android 5.1 Lollipop along with a layer of LG’s custom interface. It uses something that LG calls ‘human-centric UX 4.0, promising a more intuitive experience. It offers features like Quick Shot that allows taking pictures even without opening the camera app and simply double tapping on the rear key even when the display is off. There’s a new Gallery that has been designed for faster scrolling. Event Pocket allows users to create a unified calendar by dragging and dropping appointments and activities from multiple calendars and social media sites. The improved Smart Notice provides more personalized notifications for weather, travel and more. A 3,000mAh removable battery completes the package.

The LG G4 will will be made available in South Korea, followed by other countries. There is no mention of when the device will reach Indian shores. The company hasn’t disclosed the price yet.
