H.E President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud Silanyo has issued a Presidential decree # JSL/M/XERM/249-3197/042015 relieving the chief justice Mr. Yusuf Ismael Ali of his duties with immediate effect and at the same time stating he will name his replacement soon.
President Silanyo exercising powers bestowed upon him by Article 90 of Somaliland Constitution and in accordance with Article 105, Section 3 which stipulates the President can dismiss the high court president needing the approval of council of representative’s council of senate.
After considering the recommendations and grievances of National Judicial council and the lack of coordination between them and the chief Justice.
The ever increasing disenchantment and complains by citizens on the part of the chief justice and the judiciary as a whole.
The need to reform the judiciary and the country’s Justice System.
I do hereby relieve of his duties with immediate effect the Chief Justice Mr. Yusuf Ismael Ali.
