As Liberia continues to record success in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus, the head of the Incident Management System at the Ministry of Health, Mr. Tolbert Nyeswah, has disclosed that Liberia might be declared Ebola-free if there is no new case by April 13, 2015.
Speaking during the Ministry of Information regular Ebola press briefing, Mr. Nyeswah said there has not been any new case of the virus in Montserrado County for about eighteen days noting that the rest of the counties have gone more than forty-two days without any new case.
The head of the Incident Management System also disclosed that there are zero contacts now in the country noting that the one hundred and two people who were under observation have successfully completed their twenty-one days.
It was recently reported that one hundred and two people who might have been in contact with some Ebola patients were being observed by the Ministry of Health and other partners.
Recently, on March 5, 2015, the last confirmed Ebola patient was discharged from the Chinese-run Ebola Treatment Unit in Paynesville by the Ministry of Health after being tested negative.
According to the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization will declare Liberia Ebola free forty-two days after the last confirmed Ebola case is being tested negative and now it’s about eighteen days since the test was conducted.
