NEC Issues Statement on Preparation for Upcoming Electoral Process

NEC-logo-1The National Electoral Commission “NEC” has for the first time released a press statement elaborating in depth report of the progress and achievements since the new commission assumed office. The press statement comes after the NEC officials meet with the representatives of the three national political parties today

The NEC press Statement stated as follows:-

The National Electoral Commission commissioners have since their return to the country from Nairobi, Kenya nearly one month ago had being engaged in a wide range of activities, the electoral commission has in earnest begun laying the ground work and preparation for the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections such as the awarding of contracts for procurement of voting materials       and polling tools to be used by voters during the elections.

The National Electoral Commission commissioners while in Nairobi decided to award the contract for procurement of voting materials and polling tools to an American firm known as CREATIVE.

Starting From the 6th up to 15th of January, 2015 the National Electoral Commission concluded the process of awarding of contracts for procurement of materials and polling tools for voters registration to A Nordic Firm known as Atea delivers IT products from leading vendors and assist its customers with specialist competencies within IT infrastructure services.

As you’re area aware of the National Electoral Commission assumed office at a time when most our partners (western nations) were observing the festivity season hence the delay but we expect those firms who won the bidding to respond within the time frame we had set.

NEC is the process of recruit of important personnel among them the legal affairs advisor and head of personnel and which will be soon followed by regional and district level voters registration staff.

We plan to embark on inspection tour of all regions and districts in the country and we shall be accompanied by representatives of the three national political parties.

Today we met with the by representatives of the three national political parties to discuss issues regarding the voters registration process.

Among the Issues we discussed area as Follows:

  1. NEC should speed up conclusion of the process of allocations contracts to foreign firms.
  2. The processed visit by NEC and technical committee representing the three national political to all regions and district.
  3. The recruitment and hiring NEC headquarters and regional staff by NEC.
  4. Working cooperatively and jointly so as to adapt positive and effective voter’s registration process.
  5. To hold periodically and continuous meetings between the National electoral Commission and representatives of the Three National Political parties.
