ADDIS ABABA- Ethiopia’s State Minister, Ambassador Berhane Gebre-Chiristos met with Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Mohamed Bihi Yonis on 16 January 2015, who is on a working visit to Addis Ababa.
The two ministers discussed on strengthening border security cooperation and to enhance bilateral relations.
Somaliland Foreign Affairs Minister and International Cooperation Mr. Mohamed Bihi Yonis breiefed his Ethiopian counterpart on issues relating to the recent meeting in Djibouti between Silanyo and Hasan Shiekh Mohamoud.
They also talked about the planned technical meeting between the two countries, the upcoming elections that are expected to take place in the country and other mutual issues that are of great interest to both countries.
It is not so far clear if the two ministers have discussed on the issue of Sultan Wabar, the traditional leader from Awdal that pose a threat to Somaliland security.
It is mathematically believed that having Sultan formed an armed militant that is hiding in the border mountainous between the two countries.
Ethiopia and Somaliland have established ties on the areas of security, trade, combating terrorism and extremism and that both countries could side by side in peace , prosperity and stability.
